I never did like maps, never could figure them out. For a person with no sense of direction, that’s not at all unusual.

Maps always seemed confusing to me, all those tiny red and blue lines, showing me where to go, and how to get there. I don’t want to follow those lines. Never did. I want to go in-between, outside, over and around those lines.

How will I find my way? I don’t know. I’m not quite sure. I’ll start off here, and well, I won’t know where I’m going or where I’ll end up, until I get there.

Sound crazy to you? Maybe! Oh, I’ve been taught, lectured, and warned about direction, mapping and planning. Yes, Planning! 5 year plans, 10 year plans, life plans, retirement plans. I never did like any of those either. Life never seemed all that cut and dry to me.

Some days, I ‘m not even sure if I’ll make it through the night, let alone the decade. Besides, life has a funny way of throwing off even the best laid plans. The most treasured moments I have had in this lifetime, were the times I did things spontaneously. Like jumping in the car and going to the mountains. Taking off to the seaside without thinking. Going home for the weekend unannounced. Making up a crazy but wonderful adventure day with my friends. Running away for the night. Walking barefoot in the park, when the spirit moved me.
